APRIL 2009

ISSUE NO. 1

This is the first of a planned monthly email newsletter. Being completely new, we expect that the content and format will change over time. If you would like to help us improve the newsletter, you can either join us in discussion on our website (http:/www.willowbrookartscamp.org - you'll have to join to be able to see and participate in the discussion), or you can respond to this email with your suggestions. Thanks!

Website changes

We've been working on ourwebsite http:/www.willowbrookartscamp.org. While the public pages haven't changed much, we now have a private area just for members. To access the private area, click on the "Join" button on the bottom of the page. The private area contains a list of the people who are members (so you can stay in touch with each other), forums about topics we as a group want to discuss, and whatever else we might find useful as we look at improving the site.

2009 Fees

We have created a two tier pay structure this year. Willowbrook's mission has always been to keep prices low, allowing families to enjoy the benefits of our unique arts camp. Our lower tiered price is $170, however, our actual cost per camper is $190. If you can, please help us by paying the actual cost per camper this year. Our goal is to keep Willowbrook financially healthy for many years to come.

Credit card payments

For the first time, we now take credit card payments! We are limiting this to full-week payments, and this option is only available on our website (we will not take credit card payments over the phone, or on site at camp).Note: If you have not registered for camp, in addition to making the payment you will have to send in your registration and medical forms BEFORE coming to camp.

WILLOWBROOK
ANNUAL SUMMER ART AUCTION

Wednesday July 29, 2009

Willowbrook is looking for a volunteer to chair the annual summer arts auction. The position involves coordinating the event beforehand and handling details that evening.  This important position is a fun way to get more involved at Willowbrook!  Several thousand dollars are generated each summer

Proceeds from the silent and oral auctions go directly to camper scholarships. A separate  Paddle Raise is designated for a specific Willowbrook need. The past two summers this has enabled us to purchase a much needed forklift and a new tent for the Ceramics area. This year we hope to raise money for another new tent ($2,000) and a sound system for performances ($6,000).  Once we have a chairperson for this event, we will begin soliciting donations of artwork, goods and services as well as other volunteers to help.

Interested in learning more about this rewarding volunteer opportunity? Email us at willowbrook_arts_camp-auction@airset.com to let us know! THANKS!

IN OTHER NEWS

The Ultimate Pandas DVD is now being sold on Amazon and on the web. It will also be available to purchase at the front desk at Willowbrook this summer! It has good Amazon reviews, including many positive comments about the use of children's discussion and voices, all from Willowbrook! The narrative was made at Willowbrook in 2007.

We'd love to put some camper and the committees and who to parent quotes on our website. If contact in the private area you have a quote to share, please email it to us. And let us know if we can use your name with the quote. Thanks!

If you would like to stop receiving our emails let us know at willowbrook_arts_camp-editor@airset.com.
