Are you a poet?  Is your child?  And are you or your child inspired by Willowbrook?  If so, this is for you!  The

CTK Foundation Philanthropic Fund

is holding a national grant competition for nonprofits.  To enter, we need to send them a 4-8 line poem/lyrics "that represents the 'heart and soul' of our mission".  From their web page:

The selected nonprofit organization will win a $10,000 cash grant and Los Lonely Boys will create a song, based upon the poem, which will be professionally produced in a recording studio. Applicants will also have the opportunity to be considered for one of four other in-kind grants. Musical Instrument maker First Act has donated 3 full-sized steel string acoustic guitars, signed by Los Lonely Boys, that nonprofit organizations can use in auctions. The final grant award is a six-month license of CTK Apricot software for small and growing nonprofits.

Send us a poem!  We'll select our favorite to submit for the contest.  If your poem is selected, we'll give you a $10 gift certificate to Baskin Robbins.  And if your poem wins the grant, we'll notify you and give you lots of additional accolades!  Heck, if it wins, we'll give you another ice cream certificate!

You can submit your poem in one of 4 ways:

  1. Leave it at the registration desk by August 5.
  2. Write your poem at the literature tent - and submit it there by August 5.
  3. Send your poem to lanierconsulting@comcast.net - by August 5.
  4. Bring your poem to the auction (when? August 5) and we'll have someone there to collect them.

When you submit your poem, be sure to include the following:

  • Your poem ;^)
  • Your name
  • Contact information (phone number or email address)
  • Whether or not you give us your permission to post your poem on the Willowbrook web site

We'll notify you by August 22 if your poem is selected for submittal.
