Greetings from the Willowbrook Board,

Our Willowbrook 2009 season came to an end with the spirit of cooperation, collaboration and creativity permeating the camp more than ever this year. For those of you who weren't able to join us at our final week of camp, our auction was a tremendous success, raising close to $12,000 - a record high for this event.

Are you a poet?  Is your child?  And are you or your child inspired by Willowbrook?  If so, this is for you!  The

CTK Foundation Philanthropic Fund

is holding a national grant competition for nonprofits.  To enter, we need to send them a 4-8 line poem/lyrics "that represents the 'heart and soul' of our mission".  From their web page:

Come to the Show!

The campers are preparing for a fantastic rendition of The Phantom Tollbooth this Thursday and Friday night. Full of wit and wordplay, this classic book has finally found its way to the Willowbrook stage.  You will surely enjoy yourself with this one. Plan to bring your blanket and picnic dinner and join us under the cooling night sky.

It's HOT out there!

We are having a very hot week at Willowbrook so remember to send your children with lots of water.

Important Drop-Off & Pick-Up Route Change

The City of Tualatin is amending Willowbrook’s park use permit with the following traffic change. Beginning IMMEDIATELY, all drop-off and pick-up camp traffic must use the alternate route that loops around Meridian Park Hospital onto Borland road and back along Nyberg Lane.

This change is for the benefit of both the neighbors of Brown’s Ferry Park who are currently having difficulty accessing their driveways and Willowbrook parents who will now have a place to safely pull off the road while they wait to enter the parking lot. It also allows emergency vehicles to more easily pass waiting cars.

APRIL 2009

ISSUE NO. 1

Sat, 2008-11-01

Dear Willowbrook Friends and Family,

Thu, 2007-11-01

Dear Willowbrook Friends and Family,

Brown's Ferry Park is quieter these days. The flurry of Willowbrook has given way to the relaxed pace of walkers, joggers, dogs, and resident wildlife. But next June, Willowbrook will reappear on the landscape like some magical Brigadoon or fairy toadstool popping out of the ground to welcome your children for another summer of arts exploration. As a quiet park transforms into a wonderland of joyful activity, children are transformed by creative abandonment!

Dear Willowbrook Family,

Althea was reminiscing a couple days ago and told us this story:

A mother was thinking of sending her young child to Willowbrook. She had watched a young neighbor returning from camp for several years and decided to ask her what she liked about the place. One afternoon she posed the question: "What is Willowbrook like?" The girl replied: "It's like having a birthday party everyday!"
