Hello members of the Willowbrook Arts Camp community.

My name is Sarah Hinton and I am honored to be Willowbrook’s new Executive Director. Joining Willowbrook at this pivotal moment and helping to shape the future of an incredibly unique and formative camp is exciting!

I am a lifelong summer camp person. I first attended Camp Namanu in 3rd grade. I continued to attend camp through my youth and went on to various summer staff roles at Camp Namanu, Camp Tamarack, and Oregon College of Art and Craft’s summer day camp, among others. Because of the impact the magic of camp had on me as both a camper and a summer staff member, I decided that camp was my calling, and have served on the year round teams at Camp Tamarack, Camp Namanu and Camp Lutherwood Oregon. Art is also an important aspect of my personal and professional life. I took a break from camp work for a while and owned a photography business for many years. I am a graduate of Arts and Communications Magnet Academy in Beaverton, so I have a deep appreciation for the value of hands-on art experiences for young people. In my free time, I love being in nature, going to concerts, watching The Lord of the Rings with my family, volunteering with Urban Gleaners and serving on the Beaverton School District Educational Equity Advisory Committee.

I’ve been fortunate to work with camps which are aligned in mission with Willowbrook to foster a safe space for young people to explore the world and who they are, experience independence  and build foundational relationships. I am excited to bring my knowledge and experience to Willowbrook and to engage with our community on what the future holds for this special place.

My oldest daughter attended a couple of summers at Willowbrook when she was younger and had the absolute best time getting creative, getting dirty and being independent while at camp. I am excited to have Willowbrook make a return to summer day camp in 2025, so kids are able to continue enjoying this experience. I have reviewed parent surveys which were recently conducted and I am grateful for the feedback you have taken the time to provide. This insight will help guide our next steps. We are looking forward to welcoming back returning campers and meeting first time campers. We can’t wait to share the magic of Willowbrook again!

Keep an eye out for more news coming soon and plan to include time to make memories at Willowbrook on your summer 2025 calendar!
